The Twenty- Something CEO

As Tuyen Cu builds her ideal career, she balances being a mom with running her own business like a boss

Tuyen Cu grew up thinking success meant scoring a traditional 9-to-5 job, so in her early 20s, she took a job in auto insurance.

“I thought this job was better for me, with a steady income that looks good on your résumé,” Cu says. “Yet, I made just enough to pay the bills.”

Cu simply wasn’t passionate about her day job and really wanted to launch her own company. “I was struggling with money, energy and being a single parent,” says Cu, who gave birth to a young son at the time. “I didn’t know where my life was going.”

Since she was interested in cosmetics and beauty as well, Cu started doing eyebrows as a side business right around the time she had her second child. “One of my customers came in wearing a DFT,” she says. “I checked out her social media, and saw her wearing a DFT all the time. At first, I thought it was just for weight loss.”

You can’t succeed in a business like this
without helping others succeed.”

After having her daughter, who’s now 18 months old, Cu struggled to lose the last 10 pounds. “I tried everything, from going to the gym to paying for classes to eating clean,” Cu says. “Yet, I watched normal people who were THRIVING posting their before-and-after photos as they effortlessly lost inches. This was real life, not ads with perfect lighting.”

Additionally, Cu was always exhausted. “I drank six cups of black coffee a day, and I still couldn’t stay awake past noon,” says Cu, who catnapped through the day.

In summer 2017, one day after her birthday, Cu started her THRIVE Experience. “After the 10th day, I noticed my body changing,” she says. “I stopped drinking coffee, and started sleeping throughthe night and waking up earlier.”

Then, Cu’s friends noticed how her habits had changed. “Things just blew up from there,” she says.

At the beginning of 2018, Cu got super-serious about building her own business as a Promoter. Her hard work has paid off, since her family’s whole life looks different about half a year later.

She balances motherhood with running her business by working from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. (these hours are “golden,” she says), and then hopping back online in the evening for a couple of hours to chat with her network when her partner returns home from work. “I can focus on taking care of my kids all day,” she says.

“I also bought my first home on my own,” she says. “I scored the Auto Bonus and got a black BMW.”

Cu and her family have also been on lots of Le-Vel Getaways and family vacations to Las Vegas, New Orleans and San Diego. “Now I can take my whole family on trips, and we can travel whenever we want. We’ve visited quite a few places so far.”

Cu, now 29, can’t believe how much her life has changed. “I have so much extra time and freedom,” she says. “Now so many people around me are having these kinds of success too. It’s amazing.”

The success shown in these profiles is not typical of the success, if any, a Le-Vel Brand Promoter can or will have.
